According to the “2012 Medical Device Industry Analysis Report” issued by the National Federation of Industry and Commerce's Chamber of Commerce, the dependence on imports of some domestic high-end medical equipment markets has slowly declined, and the competitiveness of domestic medical device companies in the high-end products sector is increasing.

According to the "Report," China's medical device industry realized a total sales revenue of 68.7 billion yuan in the first half of 2012, a year-on-year increase of 20.27%. In the future, due to various factors such as policy support, demographic structure, and consumption upgrade, it is predicted that China's medical devices will be in the future. In 10 years, high-speed growth will continue to be maintained, and the industry as a whole will maintain a growth rate of over 20%.

Among them, the association expects that the industrial structure will further tilt to high-end medical device products. According to the “Report”, although the number of medical device companies in the country has reached 14,000, the medical device industry has a relatively fragmented competition landscape with a low level of industry concentration, of which more than 80% are small and medium-sized enterprises. There are problems such as insufficient investment in R&D and weak technical capabilities.

“Although there are a large number of companies, such companies have fierce competition and low profitability, so they can only produce low-end products or provide spare parts for foreign companies.” The person in charge of the association stated that in the current medical device market, the low end Products account for 65%-70%, far higher than the global level of 45%.
