He suspects that the method used in the previous artificial pollination was wrong. Therefore, it is more scientific to ask how to pollinate. In this connection, the reporter interviewed Zhang Zhicheng, a fruit specialist from Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University.

In response to the low rate of fruit set in apricot trees in greenhouses, Zhang Zhicheng suggested that when planting people in apricot cultivation in greenhouses, artificially-assisted pollination should be grasped at three points. The specific method is as follows:

Pollen collection

In the 2 to 4 days before pollination, the buds with normal budding and normal development were collected from the selected varieties with high affinity for pollination, or the flower buds of the pollination tree were inserted into the water bottle for hydroponic culture. The collected buds were peeled off with tweezers in the room, and the anthers were removed and spread on smooth paper. They were placed in a room at 20 to 25°C at room temperature, and dried at a humidity of 30% to 70%. When the anther is cracked, the pollen can be released; when the anther is ripe for hydroponics, the peduncle is gently patted and the pollen is scattered on the paper. After pollen collection, sieve out debris, store it in a bottle, and store it in a dry and ventilated place. The number of tapping buds or the amount of squid harvested can be determined according to the number of pollen flowers, pollen amount, or variety. Because the amount of apricot pollen is small, generally one bud can pollinate three flowers.

Pollination period

Zhang Zhicheng stated that apricot tree pollination of the whole plant is generally about 25% when the flowers are open, and the stigma of flowers is bright and bright, and there is a lot of mucus. The time is usually on the morning of the day of flowering, with no water beads, the best pollination when the stigma is fresh and moist, and the fruit setting rate is also high.

Pollination method

1. Spot method: Add 3 to 5 times of talcum powder or starch to the collected pollen, mix well, and then use a brush or a soft rubber head to rub a small amount of pollen on the stigma. Each pollen can be awarded 10 to 25 flowers. The focus is on giving full instruction to plants with less flowers, flowers that bloom early, and flowers that bloom later, in order to increase fruit setting rate and ensure yield.

2. Spraying method: Take 10-12 grams of dried pollen, add 5 kilograms of water, and mix 250 grams of white granulated sugar with a suspension and prepare it for use. Add 5 grams of boric acid before spraying. Mix well and spray immediately with a handheld sprayer. Spray 1 or 2 times when 60% of flowers are open in the whole plant. The entire plant should be sprayed evenly. Do not spray it out and do not spray it repeatedly to make full use of pollen.

In addition to artificial pollination, Zhang Zhicheng stated that feeding bees or wall-bees in pollinating sheds in greenhouses is also a good option for improving fruit set.
