US developed an asthma warning sensor

AT&T has worked with partners to develop a sensor that AT&T independently developed to measure allergens in the environment that may cause asthma and warn asthma patients that it is not appropriate to stay outdoors for too long.

The sensor connects to a smartphone, tablet or PC via ZigBee technology and transmits the data to AT&T's medical information exchange platform (also known as the Healthcare Community Online), providing people with a risk factor for a given geographic area. According to AT&T, according to the American Association of Asthma and Allergy Foundation, 37,000 adults cannot work in the US due to asthma symptoms, and 36,000 children cannot go to school.
In an in-depth interview with Medgadget, AT&T lab researcher Bob Miller explained, “When AT&T lab researchers learned that asthma patients were increasing and the number of asthma patients reached their highest ever, they decided to develop asthma sensors for the first time.”
Miller said, "For the asthma trigger project, we worked with manufacturers to develop micro VOC sensors, but our results in new medical measurement work have been more effective."
Miller added, “There must be software, connectivity, and networking to compile sensor data into a form that doctors, caregivers, and patients can recognize. That's why AT&T researchers need to be involved. Sensors are end-to-end measurements. , wireless transmission, data storage, and part of the analysis system to form such a concept - 'meaningful use'."
Of course, meaningful use includes a $27 billion federal incentive program for electronic health records (EHRs). Miller said, “The space for innovation in this area is huge, and the cooperation between AT&T Labs and the AT&T Health HIE platform is inevitable because the two working groups have innovative ideas, advanced technology and professional knowledge. The most important is the AT&T network that can support the device."
The sensor is currently in its infancy and will eventually become an integral part of the more widely deployed personal telemedicine ecosystem. According to Miller, it is an example of future healthcare, and sensors and computer-aided analysis systems will become more common.
