In fact, in recent years, a variety of different types of aquaculture certification standards and export certificates have caused fishermen and producers in ASEAN member states to be at a loss, and have significantly increased the cost and sales of the local aquaculture industry. cost.

According to reports, this “common standard for the export of shrimp” must be compatible with the actual standards of the aquaculture industry in ASEAN member countries, but it must also be consistent with other global standards and requirements. In addition, in February this year, the “national second meeting of the Vietnam VASEP and Fisheries Association” held in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta area, Can Tho Province, formally adopted a “Regional Shrimp Export Harmonization Standard”. With this The growing popularity of a standard reputation is gradually evolving into a preliminary prototype of the Common Standard for Shrimp Exporting among ASEAN member countries. VASEP pointed out that it is hoped that this common standard will bring a unified quality perception to shrimp producers in the region and provide high quality and safe ASEAN shrimp products to shrimp importers and consumers in the world.

At present, the global production of shrimp can reach 3.5 million to 4 million tons. Among them, the annual production of cultivated shrimp in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar can reach 300,000 to 600,000 tons. According to speculation, by 2015, the "Common Standard for Shrimp Exports" formulated by ASEAN member states will be formally implemented in the ASEAN Economic Community.
