Eggs bearing the Wolbachia laboratory do not develop eggs that are mated with natural non-Walbachian female mosquitoes. “The worm-like diseases like Zika and Dengue need to maintain a minimum number of mosquito-borne media.” By releasing a large number of laboratory male mosquitoes, the population of mosquitoes can be reduced below the critical line that causes disease epidemics.

The team has built the world's largest “mosquito factory” with an area of ​​more than 3,500 square meters and four workshops, each of which can produce 5 million male mosquitoes per week according to existing technology.
