Wuji feeding and management techniques

Wuji also known as black-bone chicken, chicken claws, silk chicken, bamboo chicken, etc., because of the original production of Taihe County in Jiangxi Province, it is also known as Taihe chicken. Wuji is a traditional precious Chinese herbal medicine. It is well-known both at home and abroad, and internationally known as the "pearl in the pearl."

I. Biological characteristics

Wuji is a bird species, chicken-shaped head, and carp family. It is a small chicken with a short head and a short neck, a submandibular whisker, a greenish blue in the ear, and a white plumage. It is full of velvet-like fine hair except for the main wings and tail feathers of the winged feathers. The male is a mulberry-like purple-black round crown, and the crown is a fine feather. Females wear white pompoms on top of their heads, and there are many fine short hairs on the cheeks under the maxilla. The claws are divided into five toes, that is, one more toe on the back toe, hairy feet, and many armpit hairs. Because its eyes, eyes, tongue, skin, flesh, bones, toes, internal organs, and fat are all black, it is named Wuji.

Second, medicinal value

Wuji is a rare Chinese herbal medicine. In the "Compendium of Materia Medica," it has long been documented that the black-bone chicken is non-toxic, and the chief is to assist the weak, weak and procreative. It is clinically recognized that Wuji has the functions of supplementing liver and kidney, benefiting qi and blood, and retreating fever, and is a good medicine for treating debilitating diseases and women's diseases. In addition, current medical practice has proven that Wuji has good curative effects on tuberculosis, heart disease, gastric ulcer, chronic hepatitis, neurasthenia, and pediatric cartilage disease. Ukrainian eggs can cure headaches, dizziness, asthma, nephritis and other diseases. The black bones are soaked in blood, which can activate the blood and drive the wind. The chicken feathers can be boiled and rinsed to relieve itching and treat urticaria.

Third, living habits

Wuji has a small body size, with an adult cock weight of 1 to 1.5 kg and a hen of 0.75 to 1 kg. It has a gentle temperament and strong adaptability. It can be housed, raised, raised and stocked. The sexual maturity of hens takes 5.5 months, the eggs weigh 35-45 grams, and the annual egg production is about 100, and the high ones can reach 130. Wuji's nesting is very strong, and each time about 20 or so, it stops production of "big nests", so the natural hatching ability is stronger than that of ordinary chickens. Chickens weighing 27 to 30 grams, poor viability, poor resistance to cold and moisture, so careful management during brooding, the chicken house should be dry, ventilated, insulated, quiet and hygienic. Wuji habits of sand bathing, sand baths must be placed in the house to facilitate the cleaning of feathers to help growth and development.

Fourth, management points

1. Carefully brood. When chicks are hatched, they must be bred. The optimal temperature in the first week is 35-36°C, and the second week-old age is 32-34°C. After that, the weekly temperature is reduced by 2°C, and the temperature can be desorbed in 5-7 weeks. After 2 days of age, one-third of the chicks were found to eat when they found that they were mouth-licking. In the first few days of feeding, the boiled cooked millet was fed and the cooked egg yolk was mixed. The amount of egg yolk was 1 for every 18 chicks a day. After 7 days, the mixed feed was changed and the feed was mainly semi-cooked grains supplemented with vegetables, fish meal and vitamins. About 17 eggs per square meter can be raised during brooding. Drinking water should be adequately cleaned, warm water should be fed initially, and one-tenth of potassium permanganate should be added to the water.

2. Adult chicken rearing. The chicks grow faster and grow silky at 30 days of age and weigh up to 250 grams at 50 days of age. It is necessary to keep the sheds hygienic, with suitable humidity and sufficient drinking water. Keep light for 16 to 17 hours per day during laying, supplementing manually when light is insufficient. The diet should use compound feeds, with the following conditions: fishmeal 10%, bean cake 10%, cereal flour 20%, corn (2422, -3.00, -0.12%) powder 30%, sorghum 5%, rice bran 7%, shell powder 2 %, 1% growth hormone, 15% green feed. Use a dry, wet combination feeding method. Feed 4 to 5 times the day before 4 months of age. During the laying of eggs, feed more fresh green and juicy feed to prevent the laying hens from becoming over-fat. Add manganese salt properly to increase egg production and egg quality.

3. Prevent and cure diseases. Although Wuji has strong resistance to diseases and fewer epidemics, it should also adhere to the principle of “early prevention without disease and early treatment with disease”. Clean the sheds every day, remove the excrement, and pay attention to moisture; sterilize once a week, brush and disinfect the troughs every 3 to 5 days; do not feed rotten and spoilage feeds.

4. Breeding and selection. In the breeding of black-bone chickens, we must select the fine individual with the highest crown, green ear, white velvet, five-claw, and black and black. Incubation can be in spring and autumn, but it is better to hatch in spring. Roosters require strong, sexual characteristics; hens require more eggs and poor nesting. A ratio of 1:6 for breeding males and females allows for higher fertility rates, and hatched chicks are also robust. Roosters can be bred to 6-7 months of age, and hens are better than 10 months old and can use 3 to 4 years.
