How to choose and match compound fertilizer

There are many kinds of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium ternary compound fertilizers in the fertilizer market. However, the ratio of nutrient distribution is not exactly the same as that of experts or soil fertilization. Therefore, it should be rationally selected and properly adjusted.

Technical points Fertilizer selection. As far as possible, the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be used as the compound fertilizer which is similar to the expert or soil fertilization suggestion and mainly used as the base fertilizer.

Nutrient blending. Firstly, the application amount of compound fertilizer is calculated based on the amount of phosphorus applied to the base fertilizer, and the application amount of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer is adjusted. The insufficient nitrogen application to the base fertilizer compound fertilizer can be supplemented with a single chemical fertilizer such as urea; the nitrogen applied to the compound fertilizer excessively can be corrected by applying nitrogen when the fertilizer is applied.

In China, compound fertilizer is mainly used as the base fertilizer for various crops, especially for field crops. On this basis, nitrogen is used as the main quick-acting fertilizer. The nutrient blending and fertilization recommendations of the compound fertilizer are further illustrated by two examples.

Application example 1 Experts suggest that the formula of a winter wheat base fertilizer in Northwest China is N10 kg per mu, P2O56 kg, K2O3 kg; and the body-to-joint period is applied for N4.5 kg. How many kilograms should I apply for the existing “16-20-8” compound fertilizer? If the ratio of nutrient distribution is not suitable, how to adjust with single fertilizer?

According to the above principle, the compound fertilizer application amount is calculated by the phosphorus content of the compound fertilizer:

Application amount of compound fertilizer = 6÷20%=30 kg; calculate the nitrogen and potassium application rates of 30 kg compound fertilizer separately:

N=30%×16%=4.8 kg applied when applying the compound fertilizer;

K2O applied when compounding fertilizer is 30×8%=2.4 kg;

Finally calculate the replenishment amount of urea and potassium chloride: the amount of urea applied = (10-4.8) ÷ 46% = +11.3 kg (positive number indicates that the nitrogen content of the base compound fertilizer is insufficient, the same amount of urea should be applied And the amount of nitrogen applied is unchanged);

The amount of KCl to be applied = (3-2.4) ÷ 60% = +1 kg.

The final plan: 30 kg of “16-20-8” compound fertilizer per acre, 11.3 kg of urea and 1 kg of potassium chloride; the amount of urea applied in the rising-jointing period is 4.5÷46=10 (kg/mu).

Example 2 experts suggest that a summer corn base fertilizer (or four-leaf stage top dressing) formula is N58 kg per mu, P2O53 kg, K2O8 kg; after the jointing to the big bell mouth, timely application of nitrogen fertilizer (N) 8 kg. How many kilograms should I apply for the existing “20-10-15” compound fertilizer? If not, how to adjust with single fertilizer?

According to the above principle, the amount of compound fertilizer applied is calculated by the phosphorus content of compound fertilizer:

Compound fertilizer application rate = 3 ÷ 10% = 30 kg. Then calculate the nitrogen and potassium application rates of 30 kg of compound fertilizer:

N=30×20%=6 kg applied when applying the compound fertilizer;

The K2O applied when the compound fertilizer was applied was 30 × 8% = 2.4 kg.

Finally calculate the urea and potassium chloride supplements:

The amount of urea applied = (5-6) ÷ 46% = -2.2 kg (negative number indicates that the nitrogen application of the compound fertilizer is more, it should be deducted from the amount of urea applied);

The amount of KCl to be applied = (8-2.4) ÷ 60% = 9.3 kg.

The final plan: 30 kg of "20-10-15" compound fertilizer per acre, and 9 kg of potassium chloride; the amount of urea applied in the rising-jointing period is 8÷0.46-2.2=15 (kg/mu).

In addition to being used as a base fertilizer, the compound fertilizer can also be used as a top dress for various crops, especially fruit trees and vegetables, and sometimes it is necessary to apply a ternary compound fertilizer mainly composed of nitrogen or potassium. In this case, the application rate of the compound fertilizer can also be calculated based on the amount of nitrogen applied or the amount of potassium applied, and then the nutrient distribution ratio of the compound fertilizer such as urea, superphosphate, potassium sulfate or potassium chloride can be used. And the application amount is further formulated.
