Beef high-energy diet fattening method

The so-called high-energy diet means that the metabolic energy per kilogram of beef cattle contains more than 10.9 MJ of metabolites, or that of the ration in the diet accounts for more than 70%. After the coarse-grained ration-type shelf cattle are transported from the pastoral area to the finishing area of the agricultural area, they should transition to the concentrate-type ration in a short period of time, and 120-150 days can be bred into a commercial cattle slaughter.

First, the recovery period: 10-15 days. After long-distance transportation, shelf cattle need a period of recovery due to fatigue caused by stress reaction; shelf cattle also need to adapt to feed, breeding methods and environment of agricultural areas. During the recovery period, the diet is either dry whole grains or 50% dry coarse grains plus 50% silage.

Second, the transition period: 15-20 days. After the recovery period, the cattle on the shelf can enter the transition from the coarse grain type to the concentrate type. Grazing cattle in pastoral areas seldom eat concentrated feed such as corn. Therefore, it is necessary to properly tune: mix fine material with coarse material, add appropriate amount of water so that fine material can adhere to coarse material, or concentrate and silage Mix well and feed. After feeding a few times, the cattle can be used. Then gradually increase the proportion of concentrate in the diet. At the end of the transition period, the dietary concentrate should account for 40-50%.

Third, fattening period: 110-120 days. The proportion of concentrates in diets is getting higher and higher: 55-60% on days 1-20, 70% on days 21-50, 75% on days 51-90, and days 91-120 80-85%. In the transition to concentrated feeds, the following points should be noted:

1. More meals on the 1st. It can prevent the grazing cows from eating too much and causing bulging, stopping or diarrhea. For the first few days, feed 5-6 times a day. After 3-4 days, it can be changed to food in the trough to allow it to feed.

2. Drink plenty of water. The use of automatic drinking water equipment works best, drinking water 3-4 times a day.

3. Observe carefully. During the first few days of dietary changes, observe the ruminant activity, mental status, and feces of each cow.

4. Do not account for 50% of the ratio of concentrate and coarse material in the diet. Otherwise it will reduce the digestibility of concentrate feed.

5. Feed additives. There are many types of feed additives for beef cattle that can improve feed utilization.
