Tongji University's bone tissue scaffold material related research passed the identification of "Bone Tissue Scaffold Materials Preparation, Characterization and Application Research" undertaken by Professor Ren Jie of Tongji University School of Materials Science and Engineering. However, after a period of glory, tissue engineering research was once in a state of stagnation, and the bottleneck was that there was no suitable scaffolding material. Polylactic acid and its copolymer materials are one of the most ideal scaffold materials for tissue engineering. In this study, a series of polylactic acid and its copolymer scaffold materials suitable for tissue engineering were prepared. The performance index of the prepared three-dimensional porous scaffold material reached the level of similar foreign products; the application of PDLLA, PLA-PEG and PLGA to bone tissue research was carried out. A comparative study was conducted to systematically compare the different effects of PLA-PEG and PLGA polymer scaffolds on the construction of tissue-engineered bone in vitro, and the tissue engineered bone was successfully applied to repair rabbit mandibular segmental bone defects. Professor Ren Jie said that through the research of the project, they have mastered the preparation methods of various biodegradable polylactic acid copolymer biomaterials and porous scaffolds, which have reached the scale of pilot production and applied to the repair of oral jaw bones. This type of biodegradable tissue engineering material has laid a technical foundation for mass production. At the same time, he said that in the initial stage of research, the direction of material research is applied to non-load-bearing parts, so strength is a problem, and whether it can be used for force in the future is still under study. In addition, the experts also suggested that the current experimental construction of tissue-engineered bone in vitro and bone marrow stromal cells, successfully repaired rabbit mandibular segmental bone defects, future research can also be applied to larger animals in order to obtain breakthrough.
