The reporter learned from the Fujian Inspection and Quarantine Bureau on the 11th that, last year, Fujian Province exported a total of 2432 batches of tea, 14,100 tons, and 69.773 million US dollars, which represented an increase of 6.62%, -0.37%, and 16.25%, respectively, and the amount of tea exports showed declining trend.

According to reports, there are two reasons for the increase in Fujian's export price of tea: First, the impact of the cold wave last spring, the larger areas of Fujian tea appeared frost, resulting in a certain extent of spring tea production, tea production decreased. At the same time, tea importers control the amount of tea purchases and use Chinese tea production companies as their raw material tea storage warehouses. Second, since the price of raw materials for oolong tea rose sharply in 2009, coupled with the development of the international market for high-end oolong tea, both the quality and the unit price of export tea have greatly increased.

It was also learned that last year, the quality of tea exported from Fujian Province was stable. The main varieties of exports were oolong tea, flower tea, green tea, black tea and white tea, of which oolong tea exported was US$43 million, accounting for 60.9% of the total tea export volume; major trading countries or regions were Japan, Hong Kong, the United States, Germany, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, etc., of which exports to Japan 25 billion US dollars, exports of Hong Kong, 118 million US dollars, accounting for 36.24% of total export value of tea, 25.11%.
