Calla root rot

1, symptoms:
Root rot occurs when calla lily is nearing flowering. Generally, the lower or outer leaves of plants are browned and withered first, and the diseases continuously develop and spread to the inner leaves. The flower that has been opened has a brownish color at its top, and sometimes this brown color develops to petiole and pedicel, and its flower posture is deformed. When the diseased plant was pulled up, many roots had decayed, and the rest of the roots were water-stained and soft rot, leaving only the epidermis and a hollow tube. The disease gradually spread from the root to the rhizome, and finally the rhizome was spongy and dry.
2. Pathogen and incidence status:
Calla root rot is caused by the infection of Phytophthora infestans. The bacteria live in the soil and is a hazard transmitted by the soil, which is referred to as soil-borne disease.
Control methods:
1, rhizome disinfection. The lesions on the rhizomes were completely removed. After drying, they were soaked in warm water at 50 degrees Celsius for 1 hour or soaked in 1% peracetic acid solution for 10 minutes before planting. The disinfected rhizomes start to grow more slowly than untreated ones, so it is best to plant them half a month earlier.
2, soil disinfection. The soil and pots must be heat-sterilized before they can be reused. It is also possible to use 70% soil-contaminated WP to mix the soil with 0.4% concentration, but it must be treated before planting.
